Ford Mustang has natural star power
Aug 27th, 2008 by admin
From the beginning, the Ford Mustang had “star power”. It was a natural-born celebrity, very much at ease within the spotlight it attracted. Upon its introduction in 1964, the Ford Mustang became America’s favorite car—all across the nation and right here in Spokane, Washington.
The year it was introduced was also the high-water mark for the James Bond 007 craze, and a Mustang was clearly visible in the 1964 hit movie Goldfinger. Four years later, Steve McQueen put another Mustang through its paces in the 1968 classic Bullitt. (Last year, Ford issued a special edition of the Mustang to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the San Francisco car chase that no one could forget.)
Over the years, the easy-going celebrity of Mustang has attracted the attention of big names within the automotive industry—names like Shelby, Roush, and Saleen.
Today, the Ford Mustang combines precision engineering and computer technology with many of the design elements that made the Mustang an instant favorite, clearly a winning combination. Just like other parts of the country, Spokane, Washington has a vocal contingent of loyal Mustang fans who drive, maintain and exhibit all the classic models while looking forward to the future of the Pony Car.
